What is a small estate affidavit?
A small estate affidavit is a simplified process that may allow certain assets to be collected without a full probate, if the estate qualifies under state law.
The rules vary by state. Kansas, Missouri, and other states do not all handle small estates the same way. Some banks and financial institutions may also have their own requirements.
Small estate procedures can be very helpful, but they are not available in every situation.
