Setting Estate Planning Expectations for Young Families at Rockhurst University

Rockhurst University

Rockhurst University

(Overland Park, Kan. – April 15, 2014) – Kansas City native and cofounder of Gaughan & Connealy, estate planning attorney Christopher M. Gaughan is set to lead a discussion on Estate Planning Issues Faced by Young Families for Rockhurst University’s MBA program on Wednesday, April 23rd.

Mr. Gaughan will provide the MBA students at his alma mater with a toolkit to protect themselves, their families, and their assets from estate planning issues commonly faced by the younger community. The presentation covers the basic components of an estate plan, the process by which families can protect their young children and establish guardians, and the components necessary to avoid estate taxes on life insurance.

A fellow graduate of Rockhurst University, Mr. Gaughan earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting prior to attending law school at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He has been recognized among the top 5% of attorneys in Missouri and Kansas as a recipient of the Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyer award (2013); he is a four-time consecutive Missouri & Kansas Rising Star (2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012), an award presented to the top 2.5% of attorneys in Missouri and Kansas under the age of 40; and has been rated by Martindale-Hubbell as an AV Preeminent attorney (2013, 2014), a rating given to only 5% of all attorneys nationwide.
